About
Sarah Merrigan Design is a boutique design firm located just outside of Boston. It’s principal, Sarah Merrigan, has a crisp and casual aesthetic that feels inviting and refined. The spaces she creates are bright and airy which leave room for her clients to enjoy and live comfortably in their homes. We know that creating a curated home that looks designer doesn’t have to be “out of the budget”. We love to mix custom with affordable pieces to create a well lived home. Sarah has extensive experience with managing all of the intricacies of a renovation project. Her abilities range from managing contractors and subs, purchasing materials and furnishings to her excellent taste. Sarah passionately works with her clients to create beautiful and unique spaces.
Prior to opening up Sarah Merrigan Design, Sarah oversaw the management of hundreds of apartment renovations in Boston for a developer over the course of 10 years. There she learned the importance of project management and working with subs as well as creating attractive rental apartments on a specific budget. Sarah loved the fast pace of working in the city’s development scene but realized her real passion was working in New England’s charming homes with their fascinating inhabitants. Sarah Merrigan Design understands that each client and their home have a unique story and they love to help their clients elevate their spaces to a place where a client can purely enjoy and be proud of their home.
The principal, Sarah, lives outside of Boston with her husband, two daughters and Viszla, Harvey. In 2017 Sarah fully renovated and gut a 1930s colonial home for their family. They worked with the existing colonial and traditional architecture and added an additional 2 full bathrooms and was one of Sarah’s most challenging but rewarding projects. Sarah grew up in upstate New York where her father owns an office furnishings business. Her affection for interior design started at an early age as she was exposed to the beautiful furnishings of Herman Millar and the likes throughout her childhood.
